Listen to Detroit‘s mobile audio guides can be accessed on Smartphones and regular cell phones.

Smartphone Users

1.  Pick a Tour Location
You will find our list of places with Audio Guides here. Click on the place you’d like to visit.

2. You may want to grab a pair of headphones

Of course you can always listen to the Audio Guide on your phone’s speakers but it will be easier to hear, and less disruptive to others, if you’re able to grab a pair of headphones.

3.  Get Directions to the Tour Location
After you click on the Tour Location from this list, you will find an address and a map.  Make sure you take note of the Tour Starting Point for each Audio Guide you plan to listen to.

4.  Go to the Tour Location
These Audio Guides were designed to be listen to on-location not online so you need to physically go to the Tour Location.Once there, make your way to the Tour Starting Point for the Audio Guide you plan to listen to first.

5.  Stream the Audio Guide on your phone to listen
On your phone pull up your internet browser. Type in the url, “listentodetroit.org.” Once that page, scroll down to find the Tour Location you are at and click on it. On the page that comes up, find the Audio Guide and press play.  Listen and enjoy!

Regular Cell Phone Users

1.  Pick a Tour Location
You will find our list of places with Audio Guides here. Click on the place you’d like to visit.

2. Save the Audio Guide System’s number in your phone

Save ‘Listen to Detroit’ as a contact in your phone with the following phone number: (313) 483 – 4095. This is the number you will call to access our free Audio Guides. There are no hidden fees. The call costs as much as any call to number with a 313 area code.

3. Look up the Audio IDs

Once you call into the Audio Guide System, it will speed things up if you have the Audio Guide’s ID handy.  Each Audio Guide ID is followed by the pound key when you enter it in.  The ID’s are as follows:

10# – The Point of Campus Martius
11# – Campus Martius Transformed
20# – Ford’s Manufacturing Marvel
30# – Michigan Central Station: Past and 2012
40# – The Sweet House

If you forget to write down the Audio ID you can always find it by listening to the main menu in the Audio Guide System.

4.  Get Directions to the Tour Location
After you click on the tour location from this list, you will find an address and a map on the page that comes up.  Figure our how to get there and write down the Tour Starting Point for each Audio Guide you plan to listen to.

5.  Go to the Tour Location
These Audio Guides were designed to be listen to on-location not online so you need to physically go to the Tour Location.  Once there, make your way to the Tour Starting Point for the Audio Guide you plan to listen to first.

6.  Call into the Audio Guide System to listen
If you followed step two correctly the number is saved in your phone as “Listen to Detroit.” If not, here it is again: (313) 483 – 4095.  Once in the system, enter your Audio Guide’s ID. The free Audio Guide will commence. Listen and enjoy!
